We are sad to announce that all our leisure facilities that reopened earlier in the year will be temporarily closed for four weeks, with immediate effect from Thursday 5th November.
This is in light of the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation, with rising levels across England. Closure is necessary to ensure Trafford Leisure complies with the UK Government’s most recent national lockdown regulations.
Affected centres are Altrincham Leisure Centre, move Urmston, Sale Leisure Centre, Stretford Sports Village, Trafford Sports Barn, as well as Altrincham Golf Course and its driving range. Unfortunately, this also includes outdoor pitches across Trafford including the Grammar, Partington and Talbot.
We also regret to inform you that our plans to bring back gymnastics and to re-open the indoor facilities at the Grammar, Partington and Talbot sites will now be temporarily postponed until at least December. We know how disappointed those customers who were waiting for these services to return will be.
Automatic membership freeze
We will be automatically freezing ALL memberships for customers; you don’t need to do anything. We are really sorry that we don’t have enough time to stop your direct debit from being taken for November, but when we reopen, this amount will be credited to your account. For any pay and play sessions already booked, including swims/gym/classes for Thursday (5th November), Friday (6th November), Saturday (7th November) and Sunday (8th November), we will be recording the credits, so you can enjoy these sessions as soon as we reopen. Annual memberships will also be automatically frozen until we reopen.
Online home workouts
We have a fantastic online home workout series – both live classes and on-demand video – that you can access via our website and our Facebook pages. We’ll be in touch again soon to provide further details about our refreshed live classes programme coming soon.
By the end of next week, 95% of the Trafford Leisure workforce will be furloughed. The small retained team will be on hand to deal with any of your enquiries. We do expect a large volume of queries, so please bear with us and be patient as the teamwork through your requests. In the first instance, please direct any enquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are working closely with ukactive and sports governing bodies, including England Golf, to ensure leisure facilities re-open again at the earliest opportunity. We believe that leisure, in all its forms, is a valuable asset and should be recognised as essential services for the overall health and wellbeing of our community. We truly believe that we are as COVID safe as possible. Indeed, studies from ukactive show that between July and October, the leisure sector in the UK has seen 45 million visits, with an overall rate of 0.99 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 visits.
We will write again soon and keep you updated in this ever-changing situation. Please keep an eye on our social media platforms for more information and health advice.
To every single one of you, a final message to stay safe and active. It’s more important than ever, as the long nights draw in, to take care of both your physical and mental health. Go for a walk, dance in your kitchen, participate in some mindfulness or meditation. Find opportunities for self-care every day. We will miss you, and we are devastated to have to close our doors again.
We thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
